Hornets Trade Chris Paul, Then NBA Blocks It

December 9, 2011 Leave a comment

Yesterday, early evening the news began to spread around the globe. Chris Paul had been traded to the Lakers part of a 3 team deal that would send Pau Gasol to the Rockets and Lamar Odom to the Hornets. Many shocked and a bit confused feeling that the Lakers gave up a bit too much for the All-Star PG. Then all of a sudden breaking news once again in the early hours of the night, that the trade had been put on hold due to a few NBA owners displeasure of the deal. Now the the Hornets are owned by the league (NBA) but no one ever thought that the league would be interfering with team operations. Finally just before 11pm ET it was announced that the once blockbuster trade had been vetoed by the league citing “for basketball reasons”. This si not sitting well not only with all the players and teams involved but also players around the league and the media as well. Later on David Stern has been quoted saying “He will not allow a player to dictate where he plays”, all of a sudden. Once again the NBA is in the hot seat, this is a major blow to the league and also the CBA agreement they just signed. Chris Paul is filing to appeal the decision along with the Rockets and Hornets. At this point only time will tell what will happen.
